Earl Thompson: A Wisconsin Pioneer
Earl Thompson, a proud native of Wisconsin, was born in Mosinee on August 11th, 1925. His journey, marked by resilience and entrepreneurship, is a testament to his dedication to both his community and the electrical industry.
Early Life and Military Service
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Earl embarked on his professional journey after graduating from High School. He answered the call to serve his country by joining the Navy as a gunner. Earl's dedication and service to the nation laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
Entrepreneurial Beginnings
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Earl ventured into the realm of education and employment. He spent time in Milwaukee, where he pursued technical education while simultaneously gaining work experience. Eventually, he found himself in Wausau, where he forged a partnership with his brother-in-law Ray Schmidt and Ray's brother Bernie at Raybern Lighting Center.
ETCO Electric Supply, Inc.: A Vision Realized
Earl's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish ETCO Electric Supply, Inc. in 1972. With a vision to provide Central Wisconsin and the Northwoods with quality electrical products, Earl embarked on a journey that would shape the local industry landscape for decades to come.
Continuity Through Succession
After 22 years of dedicated service, Earl retired in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and commitment to customer satisfaction. However, his legacy didn't end with his retirement. His son, Jeff, and grandson, Jon, assumed leadership roles within ETCO, bringing with them a wealth of experience and a dedication to upholding the company's values.
